Direct Endorsement Underwriter

Job Title: Direct Endorsement Underwriter (DE)

Reports to: Operations Manager

SUMMARY

Responsible for reviewing, underwriting, and clearing conditions for Government (FHA) and Conventional loans. A thorough understanding of various product/program guidelines, necessary conditions for approval, investor specific guidelines and technical/software navigation are expected to be exercised constantly and consistently to reach individual and team goals. Must perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and all state and federal regulations

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES.

1. Review, underwrite and clear conditions for Government and Conventional Loans.
2. Provide strong customer service to both retail and wholesale customers.
3. Review loan files before disbursement to ensure accuracy and compliance with NDM, Investor and Regulatory requirements.
4. Maintain and monitor daily reports within LOS system, FHA Connection and other systems as directed by Management.
5. Perform pre fund Quality Control audits as directed by Management.
6. Ensure all loan files comply with RESPA, TIL, ECOA, HOEPA, 2010 GFE and other regulatory requirements.
7. Identify and report field training needs to Management.
8. Assist in the development of policies and procedures for department including desk instructions.
9. Assist in the investor and home ownership center response process.
10. Maintain consistent attendance record to ensure fulfillment of essential functions.
11. All other duties as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1.Ten years underwriting experience with five years as a DE.
2. Two of the five years experience as a DE must be in the last 3 years.
3. Knowledge of NDM loan programs and specific Investor and Warehouse lender requirements.
4. Experience with Automated Underwriting Systems including DU, LP and Total Scorecard.
5. Working knowledge of Encompass Loan Origination System preferred.
6. Working knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
7. Working knowledge of technology used in fraud prevention and familiarity with strategies to prevent fraud.
8. Ability to produce quality loans within tight timeframes.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. Excellent skills with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel and Power Point.
2. Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
3. Excellent detail and time management skills.
4. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
5. Must possess a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
