Description

FHA DE Underwriter
Underwrite FHA loan applications within required turn around time.  Review all aspects of file including income, credit, equity to ensure adherence to Mid-Island Mortgage and FHA credit quality standards.  Exceptional customer service, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to be utilized in correspondence with customers, co-workers, and management.

Review and underwrite loans to Mid-Island Mortgage and FHA Standards
Assess loan attributes and documentation for soundness and accuracy
Review and evaluate loan files for risk issues and potential misrepresentation
Evaluate overall income, credit and equity of a loan file
Determine and document loan conditions and communicate loan requirements and/or conditions for loan approvals
Assist in identifying and/or recommending alternative loan structuring and/or loan requirements
Independent ability to perform comprehensive  evaluations on complex, high risk loan applications
Review and analyze loan conditions and exception requests
Must be able to work under pressure
Ability to work a flexible schedule in order to meet production or customer services needs…or based on business necessity
Must be able to demonstrate exceptional ability to manage time effectively, work with deadlines and excel in a fast-paced environment
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or government regulations

Requirements

FHA DE Designation  (CHUMS#)
4 years + of mortgage related experience
Superior internal and external customer service skills,  interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills
2 years + of FHA Underwriting experience.
Thorough Knowledge of MI Policies
Extensive Knowledge of mortgage lending
Computer literate in a network environment
Stellar customer service, decision making, written and interpersonal skills required
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with team members, internal and external customers
Commitment to quality work
Ability to obtain any and all required FHA training deemed by management.
Proven ability to work in a team environment.
