Description

NFM, Inc. is currently looking for an experienced FHA Underwriter for our Linthicum, MD location. This position is responsible for mortgage loans originated by correspondents according to guidelines set by NFM, Inc., FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA, for underwriting loans and ensuring compliance with department guidelines, state and federal laws, and lending regulation. This position will clear conditions and expedite loan closings.

Requirements

Mortgage Underwriter Job Requirements:

Knowledge/Experience:
- 5 years of mortgage experience
- 2 years of FHA underwriting experience
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience working with HUD/FHA required.
- FHA Direct Endorsement Underwriting designation required
Special Requirements: This job will require a criminal background check.

Skills:

The ideal candidate must have the following:

* VA experience desired
* Experience with both AUS and manual underwriting methods including DU and LP
* Advanced knowledge of real estate values and credit analysis
* Good mathematical skills and proficient computer skills
* Thorough understanding of Processing, Underwriting and Closing procedures
* Knowledge of conforming and non-conforming underwriting standards
* Previous automated underwriting experience
* Must have excellent organizational skills
* Must be proficient in all Microsoft office applications, especially Excel and Word;
* Excellent oral and written communication skills;
* Ability to work independently or as a team, assess priorities, and manage a variety of activities;
* Work on multiple projects simultaneously, paying attention to detail under tight deadlines or heavy workloads;
* Must be able to demonstrate communication and people skills to work effectively within a diverse organization, as well as outside of the organization; and
* Must be able to demonstrated time and task management (multi-tasking) to meet multiple and often short deadlines.
