Job Description
Underwriting Manager requirements include but are not limited to:
-Responsible for the overall/management and training of the underwriting department and handling underwriting questions.
-DE CHUMs number required; VA SAR designation is preferred, but not required.
-Knowledge of VA guidelines is required.
-Technical knowledge includes having a strong knowledge in our front-end systems, a strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines for multiple investors and products.
-Resolving escalated second-level review issues.
-Internal candidates should poses a strong knowledge of the front-end underwriting system.
-Reviewing ratios, credit reports, applications and appraisals to ensure that all loans meet guidelines.
-Providing technical underwriting advice and knowledge to others.
-Provides leadership, guidance, and support to a staff of Underwriters, and ensures administrative and operational compliance with regulatory requirements and FSB policies and procedures related to underwriting.
-Work very closely with sales staff to increase and retain wholesale business.
Must possess a High School Diploma or Equivalent. Some college is preferred. Excellent customer service skills required. Must have at least 5-7 years of underwriting experience that includes supervision of others.
